About NMAU

A one-stop centre for midwives in Uganda

The National Midwives Association of Uganda serves all midwives and well-wishers of midwives in the country. We are the best link for midwives working in both the public and private sectors.

NMAU brings together midwives from every region of Uganda under one professional home. Through the association, members access continuing education, mentorship, research opportunities and a collective voice in national maternal health policy.

We are committed to empowering our members by increasing their competencies, representing and building them to the policy table, making them visible, and harnessing their innovativeness to solve reproductive, maternal, adolescent, newborn and child health challenges.

Working alongside the Ministry of Health, the International Confederation of Midwives, UNFPA and sister associations, NMAU strengthens the midwifery workforce so that every mother and newborn in Uganda is cared for by a skilled, supported professional.
