NMAU hosted delegations from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and UNFPA on a visit to maternity services at Naguru Hospital.
The visit gave partners a first-hand view of the conditions midwives work in — the volume of births handled, the staffing ratios, and the supplies and equipment that determine whether a complication is managed or becomes an emergency.
Association leaders used the opportunity to make the case for sustained investment in the midwifery workforce, and to discuss how partner-funded programmes can be designed around the priorities midwives themselves identify.
