Research & evidence
Research Midwives Mentorship Programme
Building a generation of Ugandan midwives who generate the evidence their own practice is built on.

Midwifery evidence used in Uganda is too often produced elsewhere. This programme pairs early-career midwives with experienced researchers to design, run and publish studies rooted in Ugandan maternity wards and communities.
Mentees are taken through question framing, ethics approval, data collection, analysis and abstract writing. The strongest work is showcased at the International Day of the Midwife symposium and submitted to regional and international conferences.
The long-term goal is a national body of midwife-authored evidence that can be cited in policy debates about staffing, skill mix and quality of care.
What the programme covers
- One-to-one mentorship with senior researchers
- Workshops on protocol writing and research ethics
