Safe Birth Africa Project
Emergency obstetric and newborn care training that puts a competent, confident pair of hands at every birth.

Most maternal and newborn deaths in Uganda happen in a narrow window around birth, and most are preventable when a skilled midwife acts quickly. Safe Birth Africa strengthens exactly those skills — haemorrhage control, pre-eclampsia management, obstructed labour recognition and newborn resuscitation.
Training is delivered through low-cost simulation using equipment facilities already have, followed by on-site mentorship so that new skills survive the return to a busy ward.
As a regional collaboration, the project also connects Ugandan midwives to peers across Africa, sharing protocols, drills and quality-improvement approaches that have worked elsewhere.
What the programme covers
